James S. Stewart served as the director of budget & reimbursement and as one of three directors of finance before his 2015 retirement from Cedars-Sinai. James attended Illinois State University receiving his Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting and Business Management.
James and his wife first became involved with Providence Holy Cross after facing a potentially life-threatening issue. He was tremendously grateful for the care and attention received but felt that some communication issues could be handled better. He and his wife were invited join a patient-family advisory group to identify areas for improvement and provide suggestions. It was through this experience that his connection grew, ultimately leading to his joining the Board of Governors this year at Providence Holy Cross. He has previously served on the Board of Directors for Chaminade College Preparatory School from 2005 until 2011.
James and his wife, Alberta, have two sons and two grandchildren. In their free time, they enjoy being grandparents, watching their son and grandsons’ sports activities, fishing, jazz festivals, cooking, and church.
